Miniature Vibrating Fork Level Switch

Construction & Operation

The vibrating fork is attached to a housing containing a piezo crystal and sensing electronics. The fork vibrates in air at the resonant frequency of the piezo crystal. The vibration gets damped when the fork comes in contact with liquid, which is sensed by the electronics to provide a PNP switching output. This output can be used to operate a relay or as input to a PLC.
